It's me
This is one of those unusual blogs for an unusual song! It is a song that has caught my attention from the very first time I heard it. Now, I feel like sharing it with you.
Let us go with the Lyrics first!
weather came and caught us off our guard
we were just laughing and feelin' alright
had such a great time just last night
we walked into a minefield undetected
you took a tone and I took offense
anger replacing all common sense
oh run for you life
all tenderness is gone
in the blink of an eye
all good will has withdrawn
and we mark out our paces and
stare out from our faces
but baby you and I are gone gone gone
incomprehensible layers of isolation
now your the man with a heart of stone
making me pay here by being alone
seemingly justified righteous indignation
now I'm the woman who holds all her pain
looking for somebody else to blame
we hold all the keys to our undoing
cutting me down in small degrees
you know my worst insecurities
I'm making no effort to understand
no one can hurt you like I can
deep down inside the girl's waking up
she's calling out to the boy she loves
it's me
oh baby it's me
how in the world can tenderness be gone
in the blink of an eye
the girl in me she's callin out
oh the girl in me she's callin out
to the boy in you
to the boy in you
baby come back
baby come back to me
Strong words ? Deep words?
Just reminds me that we all need to watch what we say (or write for the matter!) for there is a minefield of emotions that even a simple conversation can tread upon. A careless word can erupt and destroy even the strongest of relationships, let alone the tender ones.
The Bible says in James 1:19 "let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath", yet how often we are unwilling to listen, hasty to speak and flare up instantly.
Relationships are important. God has given us our friends and loved ones. I remember, sadly, one occasion when I have lost a friend due to hasty speech...and the interpretation that followed. At that time I had asked, "Lord, am I my brother's keeper?", and somewhere inside was a silent "Yes!".
Like you, I too get confused in relationships. Specially those having many minefields. Only God can give us those conversations to edify and not destroy.
As for now, I can only ask for forgiveness!
Now, listen to the song itself....you may like it! :)
