Higher Window

I usually choose the aisle seat during my flights. Yet, unusually in my last two flights, I was allocated the window seat. The aeroplane higher window, on both occasions, opened up to clear azure blue skies- but with a difference.

The first flight, was when I was nearing Delhi. And while the upper skies were clear and blue, a thickend grey blanket of smog hovered above the city itself. My friends who lived there, commented that they hadn't seen blue skies for several years, thanks to the very poor quality of air  surrounding the city. I hadn't notice it before, but indeed everywhere I went, the smog seemed to surround. Here are some pictures from my last trip to Delhi:

In the second trip, I was flying somewhere above the city of Gorakhpur. Lo and behold the beautiful Himalayan range, in all its splendour revealed itself from my higher window. I zoomed at one particular peak, not too sharp in its edges, but still looming above the others around it. I was compelled to look for a match of this peak in the internet, and found a close resemblance to Mount Annapurna 1. A couple more reasons attested that this was perhaps the right choice. The first reason was that it was located exactly north of Gorakhpur. The second, that the surrounding peaks, from a labelled picture, seemed to match as well.

And here goes my pictures of the second set from the higher window!
