Joining the dots

"We can all see God in exceptional things, but it requires the growth of spiritual discipline to see God in every detail. As my fingers strike the keyboard, my thoughts zoom out across time and space. For a moment I see myself, sitting in this place, here and now, as an ever receding small speck. As I look at the bigger picture, there appear all the places I have been to and will go to, all the people I have known and will know and all the events in and around my life; past, present and future. These are not random events, places and people but a skillful master design. Even my solitary life has been carved out uniquely, purposefully, skillfully. 

I am awestruck. I am humbled. I am thankful. 

I fit cozily with all who are around; like that piece of the jigsaw puzzle which has found its place. I begin to understand what Jesus meant when He said " I have come that you may have life and that you may have it more abundantly" (John 10;10). As a friend would explain "abundant life is when your life becomes meaningful not just for you but for all the lives that you touch and encounter". I would go a step further; abundant life is when all that surround are meaningful and wonderful to you and you are to them. This amazing synergy. This wonderful design. 

Today, I am on a threshold of leaving this place for another. There are dots here and there; and as I move from one dot to another; I see the beauty in the picture that is getting formed.

Mysteries in the Mist

I am not a regular viewer of Netflix or Amazon prime, but two web series and one film captured my viewing interest. What got me binge watching these, though not in one go, was a combination of familiar location and local actors coupled with compelling stories and engaging drama. The first I watched was "The Last Hour", a mystery story based in Sikkim, with glimpses of  a familiar school: Dr Graham's Homes in Kalimpong. The story revolved around a local shamaan or Jhakri, who uses his uncanny sense of the nether world for solving the mystery. The second, a movie, called "Jaane Jaan" with the recurring theme of murder mystery in the mist, this time featuring a Darjeeling school: Mount Hermon. The mathematics teacher in this movie, uses his dogged persistence in solving maths problems to become part of the murder mystery solution.
