The Grace Card

Image
Last night I watched a movie with a story about bitterness and forgiveness. Bitterness has a way of eating into our lives. It begins destroying the very things we love; our work, our families. God calls to love those who have hurt us, wronged us and those we deeply dislike, even hate.  We seek justice to bring us peace! But Justice never brings peace!!! We feel we become "men" by avenging; but true manliness is being able to forgive. Only forgiveness can heal our deepest wounds, restore relationships and make us whole again. This forgiveness is called grace....being able to forgive and love even the unworthy, the sinner, the criminal, the very ones who have destroyed our lives, even the ones we hate! When we allow grace to work in our lives...we play the grace card...and the card passes on from one to another….bringing healing and newness! The movie is called "The grace card" and is worth a watch! Here's a trailer of the movie!!

Back to knotters with wordle

Image
It took me some time to get back to Knotter's. The new design by Google for blog-spot was not working on my computer. For a while I thought of giving up posting any new blogs; until, I was inspired by wordle! Wordle helped me make word clouds from all the words used in "Knotter's song". The more often used words were represented by larger fonts. Then I tried selecting the 25 most often used words in my blog and was amused by the result here too. Now, guess the word which I have used most often......yes, it is where my heart is..."HOME"!!!! A traveler's heart, finally rests and belongs to his home. And here are the knotter's results in wordle.

River ghat

Image
A river ghat in India is a special place. A place of gathering, festivities, worship and much more. Celebrations of all life's vital events are associated with sacred rivers and the ghats are the best places to perform rituals related to birth, wedding and death. While the river Ganges is the holiest river of North India, the river Narmada has its own place and importance in Central India. Here I was, following another busy day, for an evening in the ghats of Narmada; and thankfully not during a festive day. Here then are some of the pictures I captured in one of many Narmada's ghats! the river ghat temple by the river dusk at the ghat the last steps in the ghat the gods must be cozy stairway to the river some for worship , some for business vermillion splendour wooden toys and articles bizzare!

The Seige of Cawnpore: a memorial.

Image
Kanpur, spelled Cawnpore by erstwhile British rulers of India, has a silent memorial to India's first war of Independance in 1857. The event was given a less assuming historical name of "sepoy mutiny" by the rulers. Kanpur suffered one of the most horrifying activities of the rebellion where almost all British subjects (women and children included) and some loyal natives were massacared during a three week seige by the rebels.A memorial called the "All Souls Church" was built to remember the dead following the seige. During my recent visit to the city for a wedding, I was put up in a  guest house in the cantonement area, which happened to be place adjacent to this memorial church. I managed to capture a few photographs of this church along with a few memorial plaques that were placed on its walls.
