In retrospect of the last two years

"I will sing to the LORD, because He has dealt bountifully with me" Psalm 13:6

The road I leave behind has been full of surprises.

I am reminded of a story I read this morning of an old woman's cracked pot. This pot leaked water all the way as the woman carried it from the water source to her home. Once the pot grew despondent and unhappy at its underperformance. It was sorry that it could never carry the entire water home. Then the old woman showed it its path where the spilled water had led to the growth of a trail of flowers and herbs.

The bottomline of the story went "So, to all of my cracked pot friends, I love you, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!"

So here is cracked-pot's own collection of flowers and herbs...and may be a little remembrance of the waters spilled by.

I reflect on the two years gone by in this city. Often alone but never lonely. I look at all the good things that the year has given. The highlights have been meeting an old friend after many years, losing my dear uncle and getting a wonderful baby boy in the family. There have been other blessings too. I have travelled to more places and greater distance in these two years than all my other years combined; travelling as far west (last year) and as far east (this year) as was possible from where I live! I have also had the oppurtunity to write and write and write! Three articles published in scientific journals, seven modules related to my occupation, many many poems and write ups in my blogs (yes, there are several), and an entire website where I got to write almost everything...from the punchline to the terms and conditions to the publicity write-ups.

As for the spilt waters? A bit of disappointment at not being able to return home! I am looking to my Author once again for the unexpected twists in my life, knowing He knows best. I can only say as the psamist does "but I have trusted in Your mercy, my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, for He as dealt bountifully with me.
