Oh Bla Di Oh Bla da

Old song but my current favourite: with three interpretations. I  loved them all! I have come across each of these versions during different periods of my life. The original, during my early teens. The third (bottom, above), on a visit to the city of Kathmandu in 1992 and I brought back a collection of songs called the newa bealtles. I recently came across a video by "jars of clay" and was reminded of the other two, and that's the one in the center, above. So long, life goes on!

Photos from my recent visit to the fish market near the sea shore:

Sit, walk, stand

From Paul's letter to the Ephesians and Watchman Nees book with the same name: You have made me sit, while you have wrestled my death, and gave me new life. Now I dare to walk, Unknowing the road ahead; But in love and light. Then I hope to stand, Girded with your whole armor; Fleshless foes against.

Mother and child reunion

Clearly not one of my favourite songs....specially if you listen carefully you'll find that the lyrics are fractured and the theme has little in common with the sorrowful verses. But, since I came upon this pigeon nest with two eggs...and soon enough they hatched into furry yellow baby pigeons...and the mother pigeon would faithfully take care of them...I've been thinking of this song. Paul Simon, came upon the title while reading the menu in a Chinese restaurant and was promptly served a dish of chicken and eggs. While I had no such inclinations with the pigeon and her eggs, I was glad not to have taken that course...when the furry babies became uglier as they grew! So much for the song and the stories...here go the pictures!! ...and just to continue with the habit of this blog....is the song too......

It's me

This is one of those unusual blogs for an unusual song! It is a song that has caught my attention from the very first time I heard it. Now, I feel like sharing it with you. Let us go with the Lyrics first! weather came and caught us off our guard we were just laughing and feelin' alright had such a great time just last night we walked into a minefield undetected you took a tone and I took offense anger replacing all common sense oh run for you life all tenderness is gone in the blink of an eye all good will has withdrawn and we mark out our paces and stare out from our faces but baby you and I are gone gone gone incomprehensible layers of isolation now your the man with a heart of stone making me pay here by being alone seemingly justified righteous indignation now I'm the woman who holds all her pain looking for somebody else to blame we hold all the keys to our undoing cutting me down in small degrees you know my worst insecurities I'm making no ...

Fireproof

Today, as I went through a series of photographs on Facebook of the wedding of a young couple, I remembered my own walk down the aisle 11 years ago. Married to the girl of my dreams, hopes and aspirations, I couldn't have asked for a better "best half". I remember the verse we had selected for our wedding, it was printed on the invitation cards, and would be the motto of our lives: "Ecclesiastes 4:9,10  Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up." I remember the many times I have made mistakes, gone through difficult situations and  fallen down ...but every time I have had my wife to lift me up and keep me going. The movie "Fireproof" is scheduled for screening in our local church next week and in curiosity, I went through the review and songs. The story line and the lyrics touched me ...
