R:The Road

Pastor Andrews,
that day when you preached
from the book of Ruth,
I was to make my most important decision.
You spoke eloquent about the girl
who was ready to take a different road.
Like her, I was at the cross-roads.
You said "the road you take determines
your destiny".
My destiny,I understood,
was to be a product of my choices.
That day, I turned away
from the herd,
to choose, the narrow,
less travelled road.
Even then, as before and now
I had a friend ; wise and dependable,
whose hand I could hold.
His presence mattered,
much more than the road.
Then again, I was told,
a triple briaded rope is
not easily broken and that
two is better than one...
and I chose another friend
to travel with me along the road.
Today, is yet another crossroad
but by now I have known,
To put my hand in His,
and I will never be alone.
